Caramel Apples

Ingredients:

6 crisp apples

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup Royal Guernsey Creamery salted butter

½ cup heavy cream

¼ cup light corn syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of sea salt

Wooden sticks or popsicle sticks

Instructions:

Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Insert wooden sticks into the tops of the apples.

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, then add sugar, heavy cream and corn syrup. Stir continuously until the mixture reaches 240°F on a candy thermometer.

Remove the caramel from the heat, and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt. Carefully dip each apple into the caramel, swirling to coat evenly. Allow excess caramel to drip off.

Place the caramel-coated apples onto a parchment-lined sheet tray to cool and harden. Once the caramel has set, you can drizzle them with melted chocolate, sprinkle with chopped nuts, or add a pinch of sea salt for extra flavor.
